Need Or Trial, Pain

Before An Operation

Gracious God,
In this hour of anxiety I need your presence.

As the operation draws near I need a staff on which to lean.
To whom can I turn but you?

I confess my weaknesses, sins, and shortcomings.
Mercifully assure me of your forgiveness,
In the work of Jesus Christ.

I let go of any grudges, anger, or hatred.
I forgive all those who sin against me.
You created, redeemed, and sanctified me.
I rely on you for everything.

I ask your blessing on those who will serve me today,
Doctors, nurses, anaesthetists, and all medical staff,
Grant them wisdom, skill, and the knowledge of your love.

Grant me faith which will not fail,
Let your love cast fear out of my heart.

I praise your name,
And commit myself into your hands,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen.
